Providing Essential First Aid to Those in Need
About Us
Trooper Care Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to offering basic first aid services to unhoused individuals. Our mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their housing status, has access to essential care and support.
Our Mission
We are committed to bridging the gap in immediate healthcare by providing basic first aid to unhoused individuals. Our goal is to deliver prompt and compassionate care, addressing minor injuries and health issues to improve the quality of life for those in need.
What We Do
Our volunteers provide a comprehensive range of essential first aid services, including:
-
Treating Injuries: Clean minor cuts, scrapes, and scratches; treat minor burns; apply bandages and dressings; and use cold compresses.
-
Treating Sprains: Wrap the sprained joint with an ace bandage and elevate it to reduce swelling.
-
Treating Heat Exhaustion: Administer cool fluids, apply cool cloths, and provide shade; drink fluids to relieve heat stress.
-
Treating Hypothermia: Offer warm fluids and apply warm coverings to help raise body temperature.
-
Treating Bleeding: Apply pressure to the wound with a gloved hand and bandage it firmly to control bleeding.
-
Treating Choking: For mild choking, encourage the person to cough. For severe choking, perform back blows.
-
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): Provide artificial ventilation and chest compressions to preserve brain function, blood circulation, and breathing.
-
Heimlich Maneuver: Dislodge blockages in the airway to prevent brain damage.
-
Setting a Splint: Use household items or a stick and clothing to stabilize fractured or sprained limbs.
-
Additional First Aid: Drain blisters; remove debris from the eyes; use non-prescription medicine as needed; and provide massage to relieve muscle tension.
Our Impact
With the help of our dedicated team and generous supporters, Trooper Care Network has been able to provide critical first aid services to those who need them most. Our efforts are aimed at ensuring that minor injuries are treated promptly, helping to prevent more serious health issues.
